London: Printed by Ja: Cottrel, for Samuel Speed, at the Rain-Bow in Fleetstreet, near the Inner Temple-Gate, 1662. Hardcover. Fair. First English edition. Folio. pp. [6] 1-243 [244 (blank)] 1-236. Bound in contemporary calf over boards. Both boards are detached, spine back mostly perished, lacking both free endpapers, else good or better with modest scattered foxing, some dust soiling and toning to the margins, and creasing to the final four leaves at the top corner and fore-edge. There are five contemporary jotted words in light ink: one word written vertically on the title page between the 'A' and 'R' of Pharamond; and four words written vertically on the final page in the bottom margin below the tailpiece. A scarce copy of La Calprenède's popular heroic romance "elegantly rendered into English." *ESTC* R34500.
