First edition 1st printing, Very Good book with lightly bumped corners and some inward bowing at top of spine; in a Very Good jacket with light edge and corner wear, sun fade to the spine, and small closed tear along top edge of back panel. Large volume of Native American folk myths, illustrated by Erdoes. Blurbs by Peter Matthiessen and Dee Brown. This copy has a bird glyph stamped on front end page, an inscription – For Vera Drysdale who has walked the same trail in friendship – signed by Erdoes. Also laid-in is a post card from the American Museum of Natural History in New York City announcing a reading by Erdoes shortly after this book was published. The card was sent to the person to whom the book was inscribed and is signed Jean and Richard. An unusual copy.
